Chapter 2

Chapter2 is a long term 1:1 mentoring charity in Reading for boys growing up without a father, or positive male role model in their life.

Stories of Hope

I worked with Chapter2 to bring the stories of their mentor–mentee pairs to life, showing the real impact of long-term 1:1 mentoring on young men’s lives. The films were designed to help the charity tackle their biggest challenge: recruiting more mentors to meet demand, while highlighting how positive, consistent role models can create lasting change.

Troy & Blessing

Blessing and Troy were matched through Chapter2 in 2020 and have been meeting regularly since. Whilst the road for Troy hasn’t always been easy, Blessing continues to be a consistent, trusted presence in his life: someone that he can spend time with, confide in, and rely on.

Nana & Samuel

Nana and Samuel were matched through Chapter2 in 2024 and have been meeting regularly since. Nana wanted to find a way to help support Samuel to get into a football team that was sustainable, and so stepped up beyond expectations, taking him to training twice a week, and to games on the weekend, as well as finding other activities for them to do. Nana provides a trusted and secure mentoring environment that supports Samuel, allowing them to have open and fun conversation, and to be part of something bigger than themselves in the local community.

Hugh & Karl

Hugh and Karl were matched through Chapter2 in 2023. This pairing finds the joy in simple things like birdwatching, bike rides and baking. Hugh describes Karl as an "energetic butterfly", so being paired with an older mentor means that Karl receives the wisdom on Hugh's experiences while keeping Hugh on his toes. Sometimes the most unlikely of matches can form the strongest bonds.
In addition to telling the stories of three mentor–mentee pairs, I also created an invitation film to encourage people to attend mentor training days, and a special feature where Dr. Rich Kay, founder of Chapter2, shares a story from Pilanesberg National Park about elephants—and how that moment shaped the charity’s mentoring philosophy.
